The Treasure Behind the Waterfall

Deep in the forest a young man rest peacefully against a tree with his arms folded behind his head dress in a white short sleeved shirt, blue jeans with a white dragon on the left side and a black dragon on the right, and string laced sandals. He sat up yawning while running his hand through his wild blue hair, he reach over and pick up a sword and a sleeveless red cloak, after tying the sword to his side and fastening the cloak around his neck he began to make his way through the forest hoping to find a town at the end to get more rest. After a good bit of walking he came to clearing which had to be the center of the forest, he notice a lake and a small waterfall to the side he went over and wash his face getting the sleepiness out of his eyes, he stop when he heard the sound of someone crying. 'Is someone here' he thought shaking the water off his face, he look around he saw no one and figured it was just his imagination, but he could still hear crying. He focus his sense of hearing and found the source of the sound was coming from behind the waterfall, he jump into the lake and began to swim under the fall when he climb up into a small cave and look around and to his surprise he saw a girl, no older than him trap in a glass sphere.

He walk over to the sphere the girl was still crying and didn't notice him, as he got a better look at the girl he notice she wasn't human she had pointy ears, green skin, and blue tribal like markings on her arms and face. She wore a white top with a matching red vest and pants, and her shoes were black slippers, as he took a close look at the markings and notice they were magic lines, he had seen many magic lines, runes and circles dating back in history and in the present as a part of spells, experiments, transmutation, and symbols for either a guild, clan, and/or kingdom. Finally sensing a presents she quickly looks up to see him standing there, scared out of here wits she backs up as far as she could, which wasn't far since the sphere was only big enough for two people. Seeing this he thought of a way to reassure her that he wasn't there to hurt her "It's alright I'm not here to hurt you, I'm a friend" he said with a smile. She was still scared he then notices she was looking at his sword he untied it and throws it to the side of the cave and then proceed to remove his cloak as it fell to the ground he moved his arms out to show he had nothing to hide. "I promise you I wouldn't dream of hurting you" he said while placing his hand on his chest and giving her a warm smile "so please trust me my name is Drago its a nice to meet you."

As she listened to his words her fear began to fade but she still didn't know whether or not she could trust him, she had been through a lot and didn't know if she could trust anyone, especially anyone who knew about the cave in fear that they were associated with the ones who did this to her. Even though her mind kept telling her not to her heart long for company and kindnes even if it was a lie or didn't last long, so she decided to take a chance and trust him "Umm...My name is Nora" she said while coming out of the back of the sphere and with a minor smile "It's nice to meet you too Drago". Drago was relieved that she was finally starting to trust him; his smile grew wider as thought to shake her hand but realized the sphere was still there "Let's get you out of this thing so we can do a proper greeting" he said while doing a raising his right fist up. 'He not really going to try and break it with a punch is he?' Nora thought as she wondered if he had a plan or he was insane, she waved her hands gesturing for him to stop "Drago you can't break this sphere it's was forged with magic and can't-" before she could get another word in Drago punch the sphere and it began to crack and then it shattered and the broken pieces disappeared into white smoke. As the smoke vanishes Drago had a great big smile on his face while Nora had a face full of shock and amazement she couldn't believe what she just saw a normal human broke a magic barrier with one punch, she thought this had to be a dream that it couldn't be real. She took a few steps until she was pass where the sphere use to be and then she knew this wasn't a dream she was free, tears began to stream down her face but this time they were tears of joy no words could express the happiness she felt, she look up at Drago and ran up to him and embraced him "Thank you *sob* thank you *sob* you are my savior thank you *sob*" Drago returned the embrace and smile knowing he had help Nora get her freedom back.

After a few minutes Nora finish crying and Drago got his cloak and sword help her swim outside, when they were out Nora stared at the sky and here surrounding for a long time she had been lock up for so long she had forgotten what the outside world beyond the waterfall look like. They were silent for a while Drago gave her some time to let out all her emotions he could tell by the look on her face that she had been through a lot, after about an hour had pass it was Nora who broke the silence "So I guess you want to know why I was trap in that sphere right?" she didn't look directly at him and look towards the ground "You don't have to talk about it if it's too painful." Drago said as he put a comforting hand on her shoulder. She put her hand on top his and shook her head and look up at him with a smile "It's alright maybe talking about it will help ease the pain" they sat down on the grass and she began to tell her story. "When I was eight I showed signs of having special magic abilities, people all over came looking for me either asking me to come learn how to control my abilities with them or threatening to take me away my parents refused both and promise they would protect me. One night I woke up and heard my mother screaming when I went to see what was wrong I saw a man in a black robe attacking my father...my mother was already dead..." she stop as tears rolled down her face, she wipe them away and began again "my father told me to run and I did the last thing I heard was my father scream. I kept running for a long time until I met a man named Roy, he offered me a home and protection; he cared for me as if I was his own daughter. He was a magic use so he decided to train me to use my powers, for four years I work hard until I mastered my powers the first I wanted was to show Roy what I could do and that's when I learned the truth about him."

"I overheard him talking they were trying to come up with a way to control me, I was so devastated that the one person I had come to trust was using me that I didn't notice the man sneaking behind me the next thing I knew I was knock out. I woke up in some lab and was held down by a magic seal so I couldn't use my magic, Roy stood over me with an evil smile while holding a book open, he then began to speak some kind of ancient language and glowing magic runes began to flow out of the book. The runes attracted to my body burning every part of me from head to toe, I cried and screamed for help but no came to help me." tears welled in her eyes, but this time Drago was ready for them he wrap his arms around her and brought her into a comforting embrace. She blush as her head laded against his chest, her tears faded and a smile formed on her face "Thank you..." she said, her smile faded as she continued her story "I passed out from the pain, when I came to I was standing and Roy and his followers were died. My skin had changed from white to green, my red hair to purple, and the runes had turned to lines on my body but what scared me the most was the blood on my hands. Somehow subconsciously I killed them, realizing this I went into a state of shock and went on a rampage; I destroyed everything in the lab, when I had got outside I ran with tears blinding me I was betrayed by someone I had trusted and had killed him and others all in one day. When I found my way here I meet the man in a black robe again, blinded by sadness and anger I attack him with every type of magic I had learned, he dodged them all and sealed me in that sphere and you know the rest from there."

Drago began to stroke his hand through her hair in order to comfort her a bit "How long were you trap in that sphere?" he ask while still stroking her hair "I guess about six years" she answered Drago figured she was around about eighteen years old one year less than him "that sphere must have been self-sustaining that's how you survived all those years" Nora nodded to his explanation. Drago look up and saw the sun was almost gone as the moon began to rise "The sun is setting I'll create a shelter for us." Nora didn't know what he was going to do, but she nodded and moved aside letting him up, he walk a little bit away and press both his hands on the ground then large slabs of earth came up and formed a large tent like structure in front of it sand was held together draping over the tent like curtains. Drago stood up and saw that she had a shook look on her face, he smiled and rubbed the back of her head "I know some bits of magic, but I prefer using my sword instead anyway lets go inside before it gets any colder kay?" Nora nodded as they went inside the earth made tent, it was large enough for both of them in the center of it was a blanket made of sand Drago pick it up and handed it to her. "I put a little bit of energy in so it will keep you warm" he said as she felt the blanket, it was indeed warm, but not rough as one would think a sand blanket would be it was very soft like an actual blanket, she then look at both of them and saw that they were still a little wet from swimming from the waterfall "What about you aren't you cold?" she ask, he shook his head "I'll be alright I can use my magic to heat up my body." She could see him shivering a little, but took his word for it the both laid down on opposite sides of the tent and drifted to sleep.

Nora couldn't sleep very well after everything that happen, she was also thinking about Drago and how he was so kind to her even though he just meet her he had no motives no reasons or anything he just wanted to help her. She turned to him and notice he was shivering she figured he was bluffing about his ability to keep warm, she moved closer to him and put the blanket around him his shivering had stop and she was glad she could help the man that saved her. She couldn't get him out of her mind she felt something for him not like the feelings she had for Roy, but something stronger it caused her to blush "What am I feeling am I falling in love with someone I just meet why, but I feel I can trust him, and I want to repay him for freeing me from my six year imprisonment...I want to stay by my savior". She moved even closer to him and gently wrap her arms around him trying not to wake him, when she successfully got her arms around to his chest she held him close as there her body was against his back she laid her head on his back, the warmth from his body flowed through her causing her to slowly drift asleep before it over took her she quietly whispered "Thank you". Drago was still awoke the whole time even after she fell asleep he wasn't shivering because he was cold he was shivering from a memory.

Blood every where, a bone chilling silence, on the ground laid the bodies of a man and a woman on one side of the body was a small boy no older than five, crying and sobbing without end and on the other was a girl the same age as him and a man in a black robe. They walk away until the girl turned back to the boy, he look at her with sadness and anger in his eyes while she had nothing in hers they were empty, void of any emotions “Why…” the boy ask still crying “Why Asuna why kill our parents!?” he practically yelled, she still showed no emotions “For you” she said only adding more confusion to his emotions. The girl walk off with the black figure with these parting words “Seek me out when you have truly seen the real world and gained power then I will tell what I have in store for us, farewell brother”.

The image played in Drago’s mind over and over again the memory of his sister slaughtering their parents her parting words were like fire burning through his ears and scorching a reminder of that day on to his brain he grew more angry the more he thought about it, but when he felt Nora’s arms around him and heard her word his anger disappeared. “Thank you” he heard her say he tried to look back at her, but could tell she had fallen asleep, at that moment he felt calm he never felt like this after remembering his sister, he smiled as he placed his hand on hers “Your welcome” he whispered thinking about how today he has made a truly special friend. ‘This girl is something wonderful to make my rage disappear…’ he thought while still smiling ‘my search for Asuna can wait for now I must look after my new companion’ he then drifted to sleep think about what the future will bring with his new friend Nora.
